Thomasville/Thomas County Special Weapons and
Tactics Team
The Thomasville/Thomas County Special Weapons and
Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.) is a combined unit
consisting of operators from the Thomas County
Sheriff's Office, Thomasville Police Department, and
Thomas County Emergency Medical Services. The
unit handles high-risk warrants, barricaded
suspects, hostage situations, and any other details
assigned by the Sheriff or Chief.
The unit is a twenty (20) man team with eight (8)
operators from the county, eight (8) operators from
the city, two (2) paramedics, one (1) team doctor,
and one (1) team commander.
