Board of Directors Called Meeting

Board Members Present:     Bobby Brown, Roy Campbell, Ann McCrickard,

       Elaine Mays, Earl Williams

                                                           

 

 

Staff:   Commander Derrick Ogletrtee, Chief Ann  Powell, VF Liaison Chris Jones,

Deputy Chief Ronald Roberts,  Julie Stripling, Secretary

 

 

Note:    ESA Board Attorney Keith Allen was absent.  Attorney Charles H. Watt, III was present for legal counsel.

 

 

 

Chairman Earl Williams called the meeting to order and opened with prayer.

 

Roy Campbell presented a letter dated September 5, 2002 from Jack Smith submitting his resignation effective immediately.  Elaine Mays made a motion to accept Mr. Smith’s resignation.  Roy Campbell seconded the motion.  With all in favor the motion passed unanimously.

 

Roy Campbell said that while looking through some files he had found the 2000 and 2001 audit reports that were never given to board members.  He also made a motion to establish Finance, Budget/Audit, EMS, Fire, & E911 committees.  Ann McCrickard seconded the motion.  After discussion, the vote was taken with Elaine Mays, Earl Williams, Roy Campbell, & Ann McCrickard in favor with Bobby Brown opposing.  The motion carried 4-1.  Mr. Campbell also suggested naming an interim Fire Chief & EMS Director while determining which is the “best route” to take for ESA.  He suggested weekly Board meetings for a while.

 

Roy Campbell made a motion to close the meeting for Executive Session to discuss personnel issues.  Elaine Mays seconded the motion.  The meeting closed at 10:15am.

 

 

 

 

The meeting re-opened at 11:45am.  Elaine Mays made a motion to adopt a resolution to remove Jack Smith’s name from any and all bank accounts for The Emergency Services Agency.  Ann McCrickard seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.

 

Roy Campbell made a motion to add Elaine Mays to all signature cards of all bank accounts.  Bobby Brown seconded the motion.  With no opposition the motion passed.

 

Bobby Brown made a motion for a joint City/County Workshop on Monday, September 16, 2002 at 6:00pm.  Ann McCrickard seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  The motion carried.  The meeting will be held either in the Thomas County Library or the Thomas County Courthouse.

 

Chairman Earl Williams assured all employees that payroll would be taken care of.

 

Elaine Mays made a motion to adjourn.  Roy Campbell seconded the motion.  The meeting adjourned.
