Vice Chairman Bobby Brown called the meeting to order. Chairman Earl Williams
Joined the meeting later.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss equipment for the new E911 center. After a presentation by Executive Director Jack Smith and discussion between Board members involving questions directed to Chief Ann Powell, Roy Campbell made a motion to purchase the E911 equipment presented including consoles, software and equipment at a cost of $946,251.32 . Elaine Mays seconded the motion. Before the final vote was taken, Board members asked Chief Huckstep and Sheriff Powell if they are in agreement with the proposal and they both stated they are. All Board members voted in favor of the motion. It passed unanimously.
The Board will be meeting with Thomas County Board of Commissioners to ask them to pass a resolution for Phase I Wireless. The proposed fee will be $1.00 per subscriber for cellular phones and $1.50 for land- based telephones.
With no other business to discuss the meeting adjourned.
