Chairman Sherrod called the meeting to order.
A motion was made by Mayor Capmbell to approve the minutes from the meeting of December 1, 1998. Commissioner Earl Williams seconded the motion and the minutes will stand approved.
OVERVIEW OF REVENUE
AND STAFF DETAILS:
Bruce Woods discussed the outline of revenue and staff details with the board. The handout provided outlined the total revenue projected for the 1999 budget. This outline included revenue from taxes and charges. In addition, the handout detailed the percentages of salary for each department included in the budget amount.
Chairman Sherrod stated that he has spoken with the City Tax Assessor. The residential properties will be read this year for the digest. This will boost revenue with a projected increase of (50) to (60) million dollars. Chairman Sherrod added that this would not increase 911 charges.
APPROVAL OF 1999
OPERATING BUDGET:
Chairman Sherrod and Josh Herring commended Bruce Woods on the hard work put into the budget. Chairman Sherrod stated that this budget is very realistic. Mayor Campbell made a motion to approve the 1999 Operating Budget for Thomas County Emergency Services. Josh Herring seconded the motion. Motion approved.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Josh Herring made a motion for an Executive Session, seconded by Earl Williams. Present in Executive Session was elected officials and the Executive Director. No action to report.
The next scheduled meeting to discuss the new Capital Budget Proposal will be held on Thursday, December 17, 1998 at 4:00 p.m.
At this time on motion of Chairman Sherrod and seconded by Mayor Campbell, the meeting was adjourned.
