EMERGENCY SERVICE BOARD MEETING

                                                                    CITY HALL

                                                                 JULY 28, 1998

                                                                      9:00 A.M.

 

 

PRESENT:  Commissioner Herring, Sherrod and Veon Williams, Interim County Manager.

 

City Present:  Mayor Roy Campbell, Councilman Williams, City Manager Tom Berry.  Kha Thomas-Williams.

 

Commissioner Sherrod stated that there was a lot of misinformation being spread among the City fireman, County Volunteer Fireman and EMS.  Commissioner Sherrod suggested that the two entities have a meeting and inform the groups exactly what going on.

 

Mr. Berry suggested that a packet be made up as a handout for the meeting, a copy of the bylaws and as much information that can be compiled for the EMS and Fireman.

 

Commissioner Sherrod stated how important it is for the City and County to show unity and working, cooperative spirit together.  He reiterated that the ESB must set the tone for the new ES Division.

 

It was the consensus of the Board that guidelines be set for this meeting and not turn into a shouting match.

 

Commissioner Sherrod stated that he had personally witnessed people from the City teasing people from the County about wearing the City's uniform and he would like to see a new identity formed (different colors, no entity identity on firetrucks and EMS Equipment.

 

Several City/County employees will get together to compile an agenda July 30, 1998 at 9, at City Hall.

 

It was the general consensus of the Board that a meeting would be set for August 6, 7:00p.m. at the Courthouse to address problems and supply information.

 

On motion of Commissioner Sherrod seconded by Councilman Williams to enter into Executive Session.
