Mission:  Thomas County Public Works is dedicated to serving the public needs to insure a safe well-maintained road system, to promote the general welfare of its citizens by means of protecting the environment, conserving the county’s monetary and natural resources and pledging cooperation with other governmental departments.

Services Provided:  Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and new construction of roads and bridges, as well as the maintenance of public right of way. The department is responsible for maintaining over six hundred miles of paved and unpaved roads.

Right of Way:

• Litter control and roadside mowing
• Responding to public concerns and requests by investigating complaints, and  accomplishing needed improvements

Road Maintenance: 

• Asphalt patching and resurfacing
• Maintenance of County maintained dirt roads
• Street sign fabrication, installation, and maintenance of pavement markings
• Data collection for traffic studies
